Before you book: Moving & Labor Help in Los Angeles County
Labor-only versus full-service
Labor-only means we load or unload the truck you rented, or your pod, and you drive. It is the cheapest way to move locally because you pay for muscle and technique, not for a truck and fuel. Full-service means a licensed household-mover crew with their own truck takes it door to door; household movers in California are permitted by the state Bureau of Household Goods and Services. A crew that never transports your goods is a different and much simpler business, which is why the labor rate is what it is.
How hourly pricing works
The clock starts at arrival and stops when the last piece is placed, with a two-hour minimum. Three factors decide the total: stairs and long carries, elevator logistics, and how packed your boxes are. The cheapest hours are the ones you save before we arrive.
Getting the building ready
Two phone calls prevent most moving-day pain. Reserve the service elevator with your building, and ask the manager whether movers must present a certificate of insurance: many apartment buildings and condos require it before the elevator is unlocked. Confirm truck parking too; a ticket or a blocked fire lane turns a fast load into a slow one.
Pack so the crew can move fast
Boxes closed, taped and labeled by room, nothing half-full. Hardware bags taped to the furniture they came from, mattresses in bags, fragile things wrapped rather than promised. Disassemble what you can the night before. A crew moves a packed garage far faster than an unpacked one.
