Before you book: Junk Removal in Los Angeles County
How volume pricing actually works
Junk removal is priced by space, not weight. The truck bed is counted in quarters, and your quote depends on how much of the bed your stuff fills once it is loaded. A couch plus a dozen boxes is usually a quarter load; a packed two-car garage is most of a truck. You see the number before we lift anything, and the number does not change afterward.
Two things can nudge a quote up: genuinely heavy items (pianos, concrete, packed file cabinets) and hard access, like walk-up stairs or a long carry from a back gate. Both get spotted at the quote, never discovered on the invoice.
What we can and cannot take
Almost everything that comes out of a house is fair game: furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, exercise equipment, yard waste and renovation debris. The short no-list is hazardous material: wet paint, solvents, motor oil, asbestos, medical waste and ammunition. Tires and car batteries are legal to haul but need special disposal, so they are routed to the right facility and priced as a small add-on.
Where your stuff actually goes
The truck gets sorted at the drop, not at the curb. Usable furniture and household goods go to local donation centers, scrap metal and electronics go to recyclers, and clean yard waste goes to compost or mulch. Mattresses are recycled: California charges a small recycling fee on every new mattress, and the Mattress Recycling Council runs free drop-off sites statewide, so there is no reason for a mattress to reach a landfill. Leftover paint works the same way through PaintCare partner stores across LA.
Only true trash reaches the transfer station, and those tonnage fees are already inside your quote.
The free option worth knowing about
If you are inside the City of Los Angeles, LA Sanitation picks up bulky items at the curb free when you schedule through 311 or their website, and many other county cities run a similar program. The tradeoff is time and labor: appointments can be weeks out, item limits apply, and everything has to be staged at the curb by you. When the garage needs to be empty this week, that is the job we do.
